This memoir by Eva Casey Velasquez has everything—secrets, sexual abuse, bullying, domestic violence, alcoholism, suicide—and the kitchen sink in it! It is a frank account of how Eva overcame all odds and became a CEO.
Eva seems to have imbibed her father’s favourite saying ‘Illegitimus Non Carborundum’ (Don't let the bastards grind you down). She doesn’t dwell too much on the abuse or any obstacles she faces in her life. She talks about how she tackled them.
I liked the honest, straightforward, no-frills style of writing. It is a good book for anyone who goes through tough times. It may inspire and empower them.
Note: BookSirens gave me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
